Gradual Entry 2020 Schedules

An individual gradual entry schedule will be emailed directly to you the week before school begins.

Please note: We will try to work with you to make things work for your family but because of the pandemic, it is essential that all families in the primary room commit to gradual entry for the first week of school.

A child’s first experience of preschool and group activity is important, so the first few weeks of September are directed towards setting a positive tone and an atmosphere of peace in the classroom. Time is spent going over the limits and guidelines, introducing children to their new classroom, and getting to know each other.
The first days of September begin with all children returning to Meadow Montessori from the previous year and new children gradually introduced at later times.

This enables the teachers to spend time bonding with each new child; any fear or anxieties a child may have are lessened when this special kind of attention is given.

The gradual entry gently brings a child through a variety of adjustments and changes associated with starting preschool or kindergarten. The phase-in period is crucial in developing a secure, predictable, and loving atmosphere, which leads to an enjoyable and productive year for all.

A typical schedule for gradual entry…

Pre-K HALF DAY Students

First 2 days (Tuesday & Wednesday) one hour

  • Morning Class 8:40 to 9:40 am

Thursday & Friday two hours

  • Morning Class 8:40 to 10:40 am
FULL DAY Pre-K  & KINDERGARTEN Students

First 2 days (Tuesday & Wednesday) 2 hours

  •  9:00 to 11:00 am
  • Bring Snack

Second 2 days (Thursday & Friday) 4 Hours

  • 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Please remember that the tone and the atmosphere established in these early days are critical; naturally, this schedule will be adapted to meet the social and emotional needs unique to each child. Phase-in may be slower than is outlined or quicker depending upon the individual’s and the family’s needs.
