Getting Ready for School!

Important Information and Links

2020-2021 First Day of School for all students is:

Tuesday, September 8th

Please ensure you scroll down to the bottom of this page for important first day information and lists.

School Hours

PLEASE NOTE: due to the pandemic, depending on how the government decides to open schools in the Fall – we might have staggered drop-off & pick-up times for all children – please know we will work with you to make this workable for your family.

Morning Primary: 8:40am – 11:10am
Full-day Primary: 8:40am – 3:00pm (includes Kindergarten)
Lower Elementary: 8:20am- 3:00pm
Upper Elementary: 8:20am – 3:00pm

Please Note: When siblings have different arrival times, we provide “gap care” which allows you to drop all siblings off at the earliest arrival time at no extra charge.

For example, if you have 2 children, one in Primary (Pre-K or Kindergarten) and one in the Upper Elementary, you can drop off both children at the upper elementary doors at 8:20 am and your youngest child will have some time to read, play & get settled in while supervised until their class starts at 8:40 am.

NEW FAMILIES

PLEASE ENSURE THE OFFICE HAS A COPY OF YOUR STUDENT’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND RECORD OF IMMUNIZATION

FOR ALL NEW KINDERGARTEN AND ELEMENTARY STUDENTS WE ALSO REQUIRE A LEGAL RESIDENCY FORM

PANDEMIC SAFETY

We are very serious about security and safety. We also strive to ensure the atmosphere of our school is safe and free of fear – much like home – which is why you won’t see tape and lines on our floors or many of us wearing face masks. Many of us feel masks interfere with learning and our relationships.  Children learn much faster than adults so we teach each child how to stay safe – all the time – not just during a pandemic. Yes, we have extensive disinfecting and cleaning protocols. Yes, we all must sanitize our hands before entering our building and we wash our hands regularly throughout the day. We are all doing our part to ensure the spread of the virus stays manageable for our health authorities while keeping our vunerable citizens safe.

Our leadership is confident we are doing everything we can to keep our school a place of comfort, community and joyful learning.

We would like to welcome back all of our returning families and extend a warm welcome to all of our new friends.

September is always a time of excitement, yet with that can come anxiety and nervousness for many children. We will do our best to ensure the transition is as seamless as possible and to ensure that each child feels loved, respected and safe. Please read the information we have posted here for you so we may partner with you in your child’s educational journey.
Our main objective at Meadow Montessori is to provide a carefully planned, stimulating environment which will help children to develop within themselves a foundation of habits, attitudes, skills and ideas essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning. Our community of teachers and specialty staff  are dedicated to making Meadow Montessori School the best environment for children to learn to be independent, responsible and kind citizens who think for themselves.

We are honoured that you are a part of our community this year and we are confident that this will be a wonderful journey for everyone involved!

No matter what this world brings us, we will continue on with resilience, flexibility and a positive outlook.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL FAMILIES

  • The Parent Handbook is an essential resource for your family. It is posted on our website in an easy to follow format. If you are new to us, please read it thoroughly as it contains the information that will help you gain the most enjoyment of your time here at Meadow Montessori School. It is currently being updated for the 2020-2021 school year and we will have bound copies ready in September.
  • Every year our Open House is a wonderful opportunity to bring your child by to meet with the teachers and visit their classroom and the school. This year our Open House will be held on FRIDAY, September 2nd  by appointment. All preschool, kindergarten, & other new student families please make an appointment with us. We will have the sign up posted here once we get closer to September. It’s good for the younger children to see things again before the first day of school.
  • Back-to-School Night for Parents! Is now held via ZOOM video conferencing. DATE & TIME TO BE ANNOUNCED We will go over policy and our safety plans and other important information that will help you support your child at school.
  • The Annual Meet & Greet School Picnic is to be announced – following Provincial Health Officer guidelines.
  • Parents: Class Liaisons Needed! Our school depends on the commitment and loyalty of our parents and we encourage you to become actively involved. It is our belief that parental involvement will directly benefit your child’s education so we strongly encourage you to be involved in all our school events. If you’ve been at the school for at least one year and do drop-off and pick-ups yourself, you might be interested in becoming a class liaison! Ask your teacher for more information!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via email!
